Maroon Cardigan

I wanted to make something else with this wonderful merino-alpaca from Wool and the Gang, after knitting my hat.

And the pattern inspiration came from Sezane's winter 25 website. It was a 1x1 rib knitted cardigan with the buttonband and the cuffs knitted in a finer yarn, half thicker that the general one. I tought that I could split the two main threads that make up this yarn, untwisting them. Not an easy job, specially because it was really soft and week, when I used half of it, very prone to breaking.

I used Ann Budd's book again, but in this project I my gauge between measures and I had to make a compromise, knitting a bigger size in everything horizontal, and a samller one in the vertical parts. As an unintended consequence, the raglan sleeves attachment is too long and the badice too wide. Not enough to undo it, but still, not perfect.

Other than that, it is quite nice and becoming. I like the cardigan option as an excuse for a deep neck cut.

We'll see if it gets wear next winter, I finished in april and could only wear it twice, warm weather starting sooner and sooner.

See it in Ravelry.
